Weekend in Review

This weekend was full of fun and memories. It started with my 15 year class reunion Friday night. Two Friday date nights in a row! I don’t know if that has ever happened, at least not since we had kids. It was just an informal get-together at a local restaurant, Top o’ the River. And you know, there are three Top o’ the Rivers in three different counties and I don’t think any of them are actually at the top of the river. Heck, one of them is not even on the water, so it’s highly doubtful it’s at the top of the river. Just a little something to think about.

Anyway, a good time was had by all…

Here we are, about half of the Sand Rock class of ‘95. Not too shabby for a bunch of thirty-somethings. Oh, the memories… If only we had busted out singing Mariah Carey’s Hero, it would have been just like our graduation all over again. Because, there’s a hero, if you look inside your heart. You don’t have to be afraid of what you are. Words to live by…

Burge and I had to leave early because I am the only 33 year old with a curfew. That’s what happens when your babysitters are your parents and they go to bed at 10:00. But they’re cheap, as in FREE, so we try not to complain.

On Saturday, we went to a birthday party. A birthday party that Grayson has been waiting on with bated breath. Seriously, it might have been the highlight of his albeit short life. It was a Cars-themed party at a park. With slides. Lightning McQueen, slides and cake all together in one place. What more could a two year old boy ask for? Throw in the fact that he got to bring home stickers and Cars crayons (or “cray-crons” as Grayson says it) and he was in heaven!

Sunday was an awesome day! Abby was baptized at our church during the morning service. By my dad, no less. Special doesn’t even begin to describe it. Here it is…

Then, Sunday afternoon, I went to a clothes swap. Brilliant idea, I must say. You send clothes that you don’t want or can’t wear anymore, and you take home clothes that fit and you do like. It’s a win-win!

So there you have it. Lots of fun and memories. And don’t forget, when you feel like hope is gone, look inside you and be strong. And you’ll finally see the truth, that a hero lies in you. Yes, you.
