23 Weeks

IMG_0645

So much for keeping a good photographic record of this pregnancy. However, the three pictures that I have of myself this go-round are more than I have of my other two pregnancies combined. So that’s progress, I guess.

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 23 Weeks

Size of baby: 11 inches long and about 1 pound…he is the size of a large mango.

Maternity Clothes: Yes, except for stretchy pants and t-shirts.

Gender: Boy! John Finley Lane, AKA Finn

Movement: All the time…he’s an active little guy.

Sleep: Still can’t get enough of it! I’m to the point where it’s difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in, so I’m not sleeping quite as good at night. That makes me cherish Grayson’s naptime all the more!

What I miss: Sleeping good. And maybe clothes that fit. That’s about it.

Cravings: Strawberries…I’m almost embarrassed by how many I’ve eaten in the past few weeks. Almost. In my defense, at least it’s not ice cream.

Symptoms: A little heartburn, a little acid reflux. I can’t bend over to do anything anymore without some nasty acid reflux side effects. Other than that, I’m feeling good. I’m trying to take advantage of that while it lasts and get as many baby related things marked off my to-do list as I can.

Best moment of the week: I almost said not catching the flu that has been spreading through this county like the plague, but I don’t want to jinx myself. So, I’ll go with feeling Finn move and ordering the bunk beds for the boys’ room!

I have my glucose test coming up this week, as well as another ultrasound that will thoroughly check out Finn’s development. Our first ultrasound was just for fun and to find out that he was a he. I failed the glucose test with Grayson and had to take the three hour one. Not a fun way to spend half a day! We are praying that I pass it this time and that Finn is healthy and developmentally on track!

  1. One should never be embarrassed by how much fruit and veggies they eat when they're pregnant. There are MUCH worse things to crave. I'm pretty sure I went through a dozen watermelons in about 3 months...

  2. I remember my glucose test for my first son. For some reason, probably my incredibly shrinking pregnancy brain, I didn't quite put together in my head what the glucose test was actually testing.

The day before the test I was grocery shopping and saw a box of donut holes that I HAD to have! I ate the whole box! While I was sitting in the lab drinking this very sweet, sugary drink, it dawned on me why I was really there. I was just sure they would find out I was about to lapse into a sugar coma and admit me immediately!

Test came back normal. Don't know how?!

So eat those strawberries! They're good for both of you!
